Obituary For Ella May Nitschke
Ella May Nitschke, age 90, formerly of Sparta, MI, passed away peacefully at home in Fleming Island, FL on Saturday March 27, 2021. Ella was born in Bath Township, MI to August and Olga (Nickols) Witt on January 10, 1931. Ella graduated from Ovid High School. Ella married Alfred Nitschke on January 30, 1954. They lived a short while in Lansing before moving to the Sparta area in 1955. She raised four children, plus had a hand in helping to raise a few others over the years. Ella enjoyed traveling with Al and the family on vacations. They enjoyed visiting friends and family all over the country and spent many vacations with family at various lakes in Michigan. She also enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble. Ella was preceded in death by her husband Alfred; her parents; four brothers; three sisters; and her sons, Mark and Matthew. She is survived by her sister, Audrey Haynes; son Mike and Cathy Nitschke; daughter, Laura and Jim Haywood; daughter-in-law, Leann Nitschke; grandchildren, Paul Nitschke, Adam Nitschke, Robyn Haywood, Mark Haywood; many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2:00 P.M. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Bryan Schneider-Thomas Officiating. Inurnment in Algoma Township Cemetery at 3:30 P.M. following the service. A webcast of the service will be made available on the Peach Lutheran Church Sparta, Facebook page to help limit contact during the Covid19 Pandemic.
