Condolences

Grandma, There are no words to describe the heart break and pain I feel at having to say goodbye to you. You were such an amazing person and you will never be forgotten. I love it when people ask me where I got my attitude and sarcasm from, I proudly answer from my Gram Gram. She didn't take crap from people but yet was so loving and selfless. I loved spending summers with you. Laying in bed at night you would let me talk and talk, occasionally answering me until I heard you softly snoring. I wish we could go back in time and have one more early morning paddle boat ride around the lake You taught me how to swim and fish (I still hate removing the fish from the hook). I remember when I took your new fishing pole a couple of houses down and went fishing and dropped the reel in the lake. Since you didn't know I had taken that fishing pole, I was so scared to come back without that reel. For the first time I could remember, I was thankful for my older boy cousins, they went underwater and got the reel for me. You taught me that eating applesauce on pancakes was delicious and got me to eat tomatoes straight from your garden by putting sugar on them. Probably what stands out the most to me and showed me how great your love was, is how when Mama passed away, you were there for us. You experienced a grief, that only later would I come to understand, and yet you swallowed back your pain and were there for us. Years later when Nicholas passed away, you showed up at the hospital and let me know I was loved. When I told you that I didn't think I would survive the pain, you held my hand and told me that you understood my pain and that I would survive, just as you had. As life went on and I became busy in my own life, I would go months without speaking to you. Yet, when we would speak you would make me feel like we talked only the day before. A couple of years ago when I told you I was sorry for going so long between speaking with you, you told me to shut up! You were quick to forgive even when we hurt you. Thank you for being selfless and for loving us the way you did. I wish I could have seen the reunion between you and Mama! I bet it was a beautiful sight. You are so loved and will be missed every moment of every day. Give Mama love from us and love on my baby boy for me. I love you Grandma, until we meet again.
