Obituary For Kirk William Wood

Kirk William Wood, age 57, passed away in Ann Arbor at the Veteran’s Hospital on Friday, December 4, 2020. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July, 26, 1963 to William and Frances (Hutchinson) Wood, Jr. Kirk grew up in Kent City where he graduated from Kent City High School. He then proudly served in the US Army. He was married to Patricia Pifer and she preceded him in death in 1997. He was a member of the Kent City American Legion Post 123.
Kirk is survived by his children, Nicole “Nikki” Wood (Nick Webb), Eric Wood, Kristina “Kristy” Wood and Cody Veihl; his grandchildren, Helenia, Macy and Patty; his mother, Frances Wood; his sisters, Lynda Weston, Barb Grice and Kellie King; his brother, Billy Wood; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Wood; his father, William Wood, Jr.; and his brother, Douglas Wood.
Funeral service will be held at the Hessel-Cheslek Funeral Home on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 3:30 PM with Reverend Bruce Wilson officiating. The family will meet visitors prior to the service beginning at 2:00PM. Kirk’s final resting place will be in Plainfield Township Cemetery next to his late wife, Patricia, in the spring of 2021. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in memory of Kirk may do so the Kent City American Legion Post 123 at 14111 Ball Creek Rd. Kent City, Mi. 49330.
