Obituary For LaVerne Charles Denhof
LaVerne Charles Denhof of Conklin, Michigan, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. He was born to Martin and Hattie (May) Denhof on February 8, 1929, in Conklin, MI. LaVerne’s passion in life was dancing, playing cards and a smidgen of fishing. He also enjoyed many sports and staying active. He was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Knights of Columbus Charter Member, and the American Legion Post – Conklin. LaVerne is survived by his children, Alice (Dave) Williamson, Dianne (Peter) Smit, Charles (Cindy) Denhof, Janice Place, Patricia Denhof, Larry Denhof, Jerry (Dawn) Denhof, and Stanley Denhof; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara VanDyke; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 wonderful years, Virginia Denhof; siblings, Marcella, Marion, Don, Eleanor, Basil, and Morris. The family would like to thank LaVerne’s care workers and Interim Health Hospice for their care and compassion. There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Hessel-Cheslek Funeral Home, 88 E Division St, Sparta, MI 49345. A Praying of the Rosary will immediately follow visitation. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021, at St. Francis Xavier Church, 2044 Gooding St, Conklin, MI 49403, following a one-hour visitation. Father Andrew Ayers will be presiding. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to offer expressions of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to St. Francis Xavier Church, 2044 Gooding St, Conklin, MI 49403.
