Obituary For "Mickie" (Connie) Traxler
Connie Michael Traxler “Mickie”, age 67, passed away at her home in Kent City on Friday, July 24, 2020. She was born on May 7, 1952 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Barton R. Shaw and Connie L. Klein. Mickie married Dan Clement on July 25, 1970 and was incredibly blessed with two beautiful daughters, Cobi Lynn VanOeffelen and Kelli Michelle Gross (Dustin). After raising her beautiful daughters and seeing them off to college, Mickie married Wayne A. Traxler on March 24, 2001 and they lived in Kent City. With this union, Mickie was blessed with four more children, Wayne A. Traxler (Krista), Heather Traxler, Gina Traxler and Anthony Traxler. In addition to her 6 children and spouses, her greatest joy was her beautiful, precious grandchildren, Toni Michelle Norton, Marty Edward VanOeffelen, Ellie Michelle Gross, Haily Traxler, Jill Traxler, Eliza Traxler, Colten Traxler and Evie Traxler.
Wayne and Mickie enjoyed their life together and while Mickie never embraced Wayne’s love of hunting and fishing, she supported his efforts and pursuits for that “one big buck” and as much fresh fish as he could catch. Mickie retired from Rogue River Community Credit Union in 2015 after serving as she would always say “the amazing members” with respect and dignity; her love was for the people who allowed her to serve them. Mickie’s retirement consisted of helping friends and making new friends at Harvest Way Retirement Village. While she didn’t live there, she loved to visit and help where she could. Her favorite poem was “the Dash” and her belief system was that life be lived with empathy and kindness to everyone. This is what our Savior expects of us; a smile, a warm hug, understanding and most of all love.
Mickie is survived by her husband, 6 children and her beloved grandchildren; sisters, Cheri (Lee), Shannon (Billy Joe); brothers, Casey and Max Liesinger; in-laws, Sheila (David) Hathaway and Mert Finn; many cousins, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends; Pastor Christopher Weeks and wife Michelle who were an amazing source of strength and love. Mickie was preceded in death by her parents; her soul-mate friend of more than 35 years, Marilyn King, also preceded her in death in 2018.
Services for Mickie will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 1:00PM at Kent City Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Chris Weeks. Family will meet visitors at the church from 11:00AM-1:00PM at the church.
