Obituary For Shirley Jean Ackerman
Shirley Jean Ackerman, age 78 of Sparta, passed away unexpectedly after a short illness on Sunday, March 7, 2021. She was born in Wyoming, Michigan on January 31, 1943 to Jack and Faye (Demick) Denton. She grew up in Wyoming where she graduated from Rogers High School. Shirley married Dennis Ackerman in 1966 and they would have celebrated 55 years of marriage on April 15, 2021.
Shirley is survived, and will be lovingly missed, by her husband, Dennis; daughter, Teresa Ann (Scott) Smith; granddaughter, Cassie Ackerman-Smith & Justin Barrett; brothers, Jim (Dawn) Denton and Ron (Marian) Denton; sister-in-law, Josie Daniels and daughter, Lacey Daniels; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Faye Denton, and sister, Nancy Ann Rose.
There will be private family burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids. Family will meet visitors at the Hessel-Cheslek Funeral Home on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 5 to 8:00PM.
